 This
is a new generation for an old family business. Don and Glenda
Folk, both professional dancers who worked for such notables
as Fred Astaire, Bob Fosse, Michael Bennet and Donald O’Conner
to name a few owned and operated Folk’s Dance Academy
and produced over 1500 professional dancers over 30
years.
Trisha Folk, Don and Glenda’s daughter began teaching
in 1985. She became a partner in 1989 and changed the name
of the business to Arizona Dance Theatre. ADT operated for
11 years in North Scottsdale. Trisha served as the artistic
director from 1993-2000 and trained over 800 students, 20
of which have gone on to dance professionally in film, TV
and on stage. |

Trisha
Folk’s solid reputation for producing high quality
productions and skilled dancers is unsurpassed in Arizona.
Her choreography is nationally recognized, she has choreographed,
danced and produced for over 400 corporate, industrial and
gala events for such notables as 20th Century Fox,
NBC, Superbowl XXX, Atlanta
Olympics, Jose Cuervo world tour,
Reebok, Porsche, Best Western, AT&T, Zoo Lights,
Audi, Penn Racquet Sports, The Four Seasons, IBM and the
Arizona Opera, Cancer and Heart Galas.
Trisha was the premiere choreographer for The Arizona
Cardinals in 1988-89. She has performed lead roles
in the following musicals across the country: Grease,
Cats, Cabaret, Chicago and West Side Story.
She was a principal dancer in Ballet West’s
Nutcracker and Swan Lake and choreographed and
toured with Charlie Daniels, ZZ Top, Three Dog Night
and Tim Conway.
In addition, Trisha has appeared in 9 National TV commercials
as a principal dancer/actor. Trisha has been an instructor,
artist in residence and choreographer for New School for
the Arts, Cactus Shadows High School, Desert Arroyo Middle
School and Phoenix Country Day School. Trisha has a BFA
in General Fine Arts from the University of Arizona.
